- Pick pockets / Gypsies - They are infamous in Europe for preying on unsuspecting tourists, be sure to stay aware of your surroundings, for instance move all bags and belongings to the front of your body in public transport and do not carry around valuables or leave them unguarded. Be sure to watch out for gypsies who use lowly schemes to achieve their robbery, for instance children may surround a tourist, creating a distraction, so an accomplice may swap their wallet in the midst of the chaos.

- Mosquitoes may carry the Zika virus- The warm climate of Southern Europe can easily lead to an outbreak since it provides the perfect condition in which infected vectors can breed. The Zika virus is already prominent in Latin America and Brazil, making Europe the next target.
- Scam artists- bag helpers, rose sellers, luxury item sellers, and ATM skimmers may all be scams.
- Potential terrorist attacks- Multiple ISIS attacks are being planned to take place in Europe including Italian and Spanish beach resorts.
- Contaminated food or water- You can get hepatitis A through contaminated food or water in Spain.
- Staying out at night alone- In multiple Mediterranean countries, including Spain, it is dangerous for tourists to stay out at night alone. Many of the countries of Southern Europe are not safe after night as they do not necessarily have competent or uncorrupt police forces or sufficient deterrents for crime.
- Heat Stroke- All of the Southern European countries are close to the Mediterranean, leading to high humidity levels and apparent heat. Heat sickness and heat stroke are very real possibilities, and are much more likely to occur in Southern Europe than in other regions of Europe (lower latitudes). Make sure to stay hydrated, especially on long days outside.
